Fen Hono
A healer who resides in the Women’s Quarters by choice. She studied abroad before returning to Chihang some years ago, and is considered ‘one of those modern women.’ Her mild participation in the life of the Quarters has lead the community to somewhat accept her, though when trouble rears its head they are quick to suspect.
Yan Hua
Though a close friend of Mei Ba, she is also the lover of Major General Futono, the Prince’s right-hand man. Yan Hua is too flightly to have given the matter much thought, but circumstances are sure to force the issue in the near future.
Master Astronomer Keino Fen Wo
A very clever and educated man, his allegiance is not altogether confirmed. He reads the stars for the fortunes of anyone rich enough to pay–and seems to have knowledge of the Prince’s plans. Is he warning him away because he wants to aid the Prince, or the Emperor?
Empress Peng
Very little is known of the Empress at all, including whether she is alive or dead. Whom would she side with, her aging husband or her ambitious son?
