An Archive of Growth?

Write the 10 commandments of writing.

  1. Thou shalt actually write, not sit around thinking about it.
  2. Thou shalt read books relevant to what you are writing, as well as a sprinkling of books that have nothing to do with same.
  3. Thou shalt learn the rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation so as to communicate effectively.
  4. Thou shalt selectively break rules as necessary.
  5. Thou shalt honor thy time spent brainstorming and researching, for without these there would be no final draft.
  6. Thou shalt honor the feedback of thy critique partners, but not get bogged down or take it personally.
  7. Thou shalt not get stuck in doom spirals, thinking everything and its son sucks.
  8. Thou shalt continue to learn, explore, and experiment, no matter how “successful” thou may or may not be.
  9. Thou shalt not forget to be in the world for thou art of the world and the world is what thou art writing about.
  10. Thou shalt stop wasting time on silly blog posts.
