Nonfiction Month is Annoying

Shen The RB Git: I have to finish reading Negotiating With the Dead, then Julie & Julia. And hopefully that will take me to the end of August and Nonfiction Month will be over.
Sreya (of the Pocket): Hahahaha
Sreya (of the Pocket): I could’ve recommended to you SO MANY GOOD NONFICTION books
Sreya (of the Pocket): like, ones that you would’ve actually LIKED
Shen The RB Git: I didn’t read any BAD ones. I’ve enjoyed them all. It’s just–I AM A FICTION ADDICT
Shen The RB Git: I NEEDS MAH FIKSHUN

This, of course, lead to Sreya giving me a talking to about good nonfiction I should be reading. She often laments that I don’t read enough of it, and I know I don’t. The fact remains, though… I need fiction. A good part of it is that I read as a way of winding down at night, and I like to be fully alert and engaged when I’m reading nonfiction. I suppose I take fiction for granted that way. Or maybe my fiction muscles are just more flexible at this point.

Anyway, that is where we stand right now, folks. August has turned into an unofficial Nonfiction Month, and my sanity is starting to crack. I’m hoping to wrap up the Margaret Atwood fairly soon, and then hoping that J&J is as good as the movie was. I may even try cooking something. If all else fails, there’s a book my Dad secured for me called Last Child in the Woods that he expects me to read.

In other news, yes, my Sreya now has a site of her own! I helped her get set up and will be tweaking it as time goes by. You should check her out at Sreya’s Pocket: http://sreyaspocket.com/ She has read EVERYTHING. And I do mean everything.

Oh, yes–and I’ve enabled ReCaptcha for commenting. Akismet is great at catching the garbage, but I’d like to get less garbage, period.

Extra bonus: my next Feminist Review piece goes up on the 27th.
